Tracey Grist

Hypnotherapist, speaker, trainer and Supervisor.

HPD, DHyp, CHyp, CNLP, MNCH (Acc.) BA Hons (in Art)

A full time hypnotherapist trained in counselling, hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) Tracey has been in practice for the last decade. Originally with locations throughout London including Harley Street she has now settled in practice, south of the river, in Balham. (2 minutes form the tube or a 20 minute cycle ride from town…downhill)

The boring bit; Qualifications.

Tracey became Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) in 2016, a role she feels passionate about; setting and upholding standards in the Hypnotherapy profession.  She also trains and assesses students of hypnotherapy to the Diploma standard of the National Council of Further Education (NCFE).

Tracey abides by The National Council for Hypnotherapy CECP (Code of conduct and ethical performance), with a full insurance for practice and a current Enhanced DBS.

Tracey also has further certified qualifications in Life Coaching and Counselling (Person Centred counselling, and then trained to level 4, Psychodynamic Counselling). She also has a practitioner certificate in Integrated Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) – a branch of NLP work, where she has specialised in weight loss. She believes that ongoing study is an essential aspect of being a therapist and coaching and listening are vital tools to give a rounded approach to Hypnotherapy- which is more than just a magic pill.

She also has a specialist interest in creativity to alleviate trauma and has a certificate in Person Centred Art Therapy Skills, which she can use with clients to analyse alternative ways of reaching their subconscious self.

Tracey is also a trained solution focussed Supervisor for fellow hypnotherapists and students of hypnotherapy alike; to be the best they can be- something she is very passionate about within her profession. Hypnotherapists like other talking therapy practitioners can gain incredible insight to themselves as a therapist and the way they practice. This will of course, enhance and increase the therapy potential for the client.

It is always important to make sure when you are looking for a Hypnotherapist that you find someone who:

  • Trained to NOS standards for training- basic training (they didn’t do a course online and call themselves a Hypnotherapist/ Counsellor (you can, you know)).

  • Is affiliated to a Professional Body (without insurance to practice and training standards, Jo Blogs cannot join a PA).

  • Attends regular supervision sessions and CPD (continual professional development) courses (this makes sure your Hypnotherapist doesn’t get stale and refreshes their skills or lost in their own self glory, Supervision keeps things real).

  • Feels ‘right’ for you, if at any point your spidey senses think, this is not for me, listen to them, chances are, that person isn’t for you.

Passions

Throughout her life Tracey’s passion has been with communication and the ways in which we communicate; both verbally and non-verbally, the differing ways in which we can so easily be affected by our environment and the people around us. Tracey considers that it is all too easy to think, “Is it me?” when actually when you look at the life evidence around you …very much of it isn’t. However, just thinking that it may be you when everything around you is rubbish, is enough to say, “Sort it out, this isn’t me! So.... What can I do about it?”

Of course (despite all her studies and researches) her greatest learning came with her two sons; a learning that changes daily with regular new and interesting challenges, that only loved ones can present!

Finally, Tracey's personal goal was always to learn to ride a motorbike- something she had wanted to do from her teens, but never had the chance, but now her boys are older and more self-sufficient, she finally had the chance to tick that goal off in 2014 (20+ years later) You can be never too late with a goal and if she can learn to ride a motorbike at 43, anything is possible! Never give up on your dreams!
