“Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow…”

You may recently have lost someone near and dear to you. You may be feeling deeply upset, sad or even angry at their passing. You may still be in a state of trauma and not yet able to feel anything.

Losing someone close to us is a difficult thing to have to go through, yet inevitably it comes to all of us at some time in our life. It can be a very personal experience and most of us are unprepared for it when it does happen. Even if bereavement occurs after a long period of illness it is often no easier to deal with.

Bereavement can feel like a private experience, even though fellow family members may be going through a similar process. It is never the same for any two people, and what makes it harder is that it is rarely something that we are experienced at.

Bereavement is the period of grief and mourning after a death. When you grieve, it’s part of the normal process of reacting to a loss. You may experience grief as a mental, physical, or emotional reaction. Mental or emotional reactions can include anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness and despair. Physical reactions can include sleeping problems, changes in appetite, physical problems or illness.

How long bereavement lasts can depend on how close you were to the person who died, if the person’s death was expected and other factors. Friends, family and faith may be sources of support, nevertheless some people find speaking to a third party allows them a more comfortable level of detachment.

Everyone has a need to deal with grief in their own way and Hypnotherapy Balham can offer a fully comprehensive service because we cater to your needs:

If you need a sympathetic ear – it’s there for you.
