WEIGHT LOSS

"I have always had issues with my weight, and like most people, have always managed to do the wrong things, like dieting, eating nutritionally dead, reduced calorie food and drink and obsessing about food. Tracey helped me to break that cycle, change my lifestyle and my relationship with food so that I can maintain a gradual, healthy weight loss, and eat healthy, nutritious food. I have even managed to kick my 2litre a day diet coke habit and replace it with a similar amount of water. Tracey is a lovely, caring person who understands the complex relationship we all have with food, meaning she can offer the right strategies to help you reach your goals."

Warning label first

Yes, for a long time I have wrangled over weight / weightloss. For some clients having hypnotherapy has been really successful for their weight loss journey, for others hypnosis did make a difference but the actual weight losing was hard…Much harder for them.

Speaking as Tracey the person not practitioner,

OMG! I have done every diet, every therapy, pretty much everything out there to make a difference, and yes, some did…

…For while. I know I am a smart woman and I also know I can be a determined one too, so it completely perplexed me that I could not shift the weight. The general ‘go to’ response would be that my weight was a trauma response and I would think (and say) I don’t feel traumatised? I actually feel quite rational and pragmatic …And then I would think in my head about Johari’s window and then, stupid people Tracey don’t know that they are stupid…And perhaps you are stupid people? And I would use those things to consider that yes, there has been trauma in my past and maybe it does still affect me? …Buried sooo deeply that not even I could reach it - just act it out. And, yes, maybe I wasn’t as capable as I believed I was, maybe I was weak in the grips of a Snickers and therefore not as worthy as people who can say no.

I can’t begin to tell you just how much self destructive moral judgement I gave myself- way more than the ‘fat’ and ‘lazy’ haters could …My inner critic loved it and dined out on that as an example for everything… I am sure I don’t need to tell you…Because if you are reading this you’re probably feeling it too.

Decades I struggled with it, decades.

I wish I could say there was a magic pill…

…That was cheap.

So for full disclosure, Yep, I tried the injection, and guess what? Shed the weight.

I didn’t actually want to eat, I could say no, that (pack of *cough) Snickers is not for me, even when tired, busy, overwhelmed and ALL the above.

I could put space before a destructive behaviour and make different choices, I could say, it’s late, you’re tired, just go to bed…And…Do it.

And guess What? Guess WHAT THE ACTUAL F?

- My stress levels hadn’t changed, life demands hadn’t changed, I hadn’t done the work to become a more disciplined and capable person and notably my past trauma hadn’t bloody well changed - Everything about me was the same. (bar my wallet)

Whatever I was stabbing myself with, allowed my body to behave ‘normally’.

So I stopped.

And guess what?

I returned to the same behaviours as before- for a little while I resisted but eventually, Yep. The same patterns.

And friends in the industry said, “See?” the trauma hasn’t gone, “You’ve just gone back to what you were doing”, and others said, “You should have learnt better habits by now surely? Why can’t you do what you were doing now you know?”.

And I said,

Exactly my point.

So I am very tempted to go around whipping peoples’ glasses off their faces and say,

“Come on! Surely you have learnt how to focus by now?”

'“You’re just cheating wearing those!”

“Look at me, I can see really easily!”

“You can’t use those glasses you need to use your discipline and moral character to see…You are just being lazy.”

And my favourite…

“You are wearing those glasses because you haven’t dealt with your trauma, it’s OK not to feel traumatised, the trauma is just too big for you to access and you are probably in denial- denial can be very strong you know. When you’re ready and feeling confident to (re)address the trauma and go deeper I will help you to learn how to focus.”

What comes next? That’s up to you.

But I will suggest a question right now- How much of the pain you feel is moral judgement? We can definitely sort that bit out!

- I still oscillate in and out of the angry zone - I know why and like treating myself to the snippets of rage.

If you are one of the lucky ones who do need a few tweaks here and there, please do read on! As I also appreciate that, One size does not fit all, We can eat for all the reasons above, we can eat because of trauma etc Every single person is different and our relationships with food complex and interwoven with so many things - of course it is…We NEED it to survive.

It could be that the injection is not for you or it is, for me I also realised that it did work out cost effective - less takeaways, less nipping up to the shop, less cake with the coffee…

I am not advocating using the injection by what I have written - that is a conversation to have with your Doctor, a Pharmacist or a medical professional - As a complementary therapist (someone who works alongside the medical industry in complement) I am disclosing my beliefs as I am aware that I am now biased in this arena… Actually pragmatically biased because of course people are different. (Rule 2 of therapy club)

I have accepted in the same way that I can’t reach high items on a shelf without a footstool (or a soap box it seems!) I am limited in capability with regulating my food intake and need some extra help…Some people can reach the porno mags really easily (…can you still get those?) and that is just life.

Do Diets work?

Yes, of course they do.

BUT

We all know that dieting has a limited time span.

Because sooner or later we have to get on with living!

Sooner or later we run out of time to calorie count or prepare delicious meals or simply just make weight loss the most important on the list of a million and one things to do.

The WHOLE point of hypnotherapy for changing your weight, is that it subconsciously changes THE WAY YOU THINK.

Therefore you will never need to diet.

Because people who are a "normal" weight, eat normally, think normally, and don't even think about dieting.

They think about their size and what they can do to maintain their size or trim their size. They skip desserts or order lighter meals, or when they are hungry, they eat and when they are not, they don't. If only life could be as simple as that. Yes, yes it can be.

Rather than thinking about how much you weigh, and weight loss, how about thinking about what you would like to do to change your size, so you can feel happier?

Hypnotherapy can address the subconscious reasons for bad behaviour patterns, it can shift those internal tectonic plates that we created a long time ago about how we eat, giving you the opportunity to manage what you put into your body without the old emotional connections. Give it a go.

So you want to lose weight...

You have probably tried to lose weight before, possibly with some success or you may have failed completely. You might have lost some weight but found you couldn't keep it off because  you simply went back to your old eating habits and put it all back on again.

You may have repeated this pattern time and again until you now truly believe you are not capable of losing weight successfully.

You have probably tried more than one 'popular' or 'fad' diet plan, perhaps even stepped up to the mark and tried an extreme 'crash' diet living on rabbit food and feeling wretched.

You may have got to the point by now, where not only the excess weight, but also feelings of failure and lack of discipline and ability are affecting how you think and feel about who you are as a person - "I am fat...  I am a failure...  I am not worthy!"

You may be married or in  a relationship and have known, deep down for some time that your weight has become a barrier between you and your other half; and besides which you just don't feel good, confident or sexy about yourself.

Time for a change?

If any or all of the above statements have some truth in them for you, then you may already have realised it is time for a change. There have probably been times in the past when you felt you were continuing to beat your head against a brick wall, only to discover all that gives you is a headache! Give up on headaches and begin having a good time! Be the person you want to be.

Isn't it time for a leaner, happier, healthier you?

You can do it!

With the help of a trained hypnotherapist you could modify your lifestyle, retrain your eating habits and realise your dreams! You may be looking forward to a special occasion, a holiday or a wedding perhaps, and be dreading how you will look in a swimsuit or that slinky dress you wore last time. Whatever your reasons for wanting to lose weight - hypnosis can help.

Imagine yourself slim.

Statistics show that using hypnosis as part of your weight loss program can be twice as fast, twice as effective. Think and feel like a slim person and work towards achievable goals, like:

  • Eat only when you are hungry

  • Eat smaller portions and stop eating when you are full

  • Stop believing you must clean your plate

  • Drink more water

Try the mind over body approach and discover the true power of the subconscious.

Many people are discovering that adding a few hypnosis sessions to your weight loss efforts can help you lose more weight and keep it off longer.
